It s multiple showy blooms reach up to 4 feet tall providing a long season of blooms they are great as a cut or dried flower also. This fall is the first time i have seen wheat celosia a new introduction from africa in local nurseries and it is widely available on display everywhere from home depot to armstrong garden. Spicata there are 2 common groups of celosia.

It produces cylindrical flower spikes that resemble wheat hence the common name wheat celosia.

There are many species of celosia but the most common one grown in our gardens is celosia argentea. On the negative side despite all my efforts to weed out the literally hundreds of volunteer seedlings i just couldn t keep up pulling them all out. This is a great filler shrub the flowers are plentiful and a deep rich color. This is indeed a delightful plant.
