The small to medium 3 15 3 54 anemone blooms are deep plum red color colour rhs cc 46a with 15 petals and 140 200 petaloids an occasional anther and a bright sheen on the flowers. This 8 year old seedling first flowered 1984 and was originated by neville haydon of auckland new zealand.

Well known new zealand camellia breeder neville qsm haydon rip march 2019 produced hybrid camellia takanini. A spreading evergreen shrub growing to around 2 5m tall and 2m wide depending on pruning. Takanini is noted for its dark red anemone form flowers and an exceptionally long flowering period often in flower in late november and continuing into march. Large lustrous leathery dark green leaves.
