This flowering perennial blooms in clusters of lavender tinted flowers. The fruit pods are the smooth milkweed type which split open to spill seeds along with plentiful silky hairs. There are 5 separate sepals petal like leaves and 5 fused petals.

This milkweed is hardy in zones 6 10 and is an herbaceous perennial.

The butterflies lay their eggs exclusively on milkweed plants creating an opportunity for us to plant monarch habitat.
