Frangipani Orange Spots. The disease appears as small light colored spots on the upper leaf surface and abundant yellow orange pustules of powdery spores on leaf undersides. The rust is a fungus that appears as light coloured spots on the tops of leaves and yellow orange powdery growths that spread on the undersides.
This is caused by watering or rain in the middle of the day followed by strong sunlight which scorches the leaves. Although unsightly this will not harm your frangipani. Spray all plant surfaces with ready to use copper fungicide spray when new growth appears in the spring and repeat the application.
While the disease is unlikely to kill the tree it will eventually cause defoliation especially in younger trees.
Frangipani with rust spots. An orange to yellow powdery substance actually pustules appears on the underside of leaves. This is caused by watering or rain in the middle of the day followed by strong sunlight which scorches the leaves. They rupture and spread spores which pass the disease to other plants nearby.
