As the name suggests aquatic milkweed prefers wet rich soil and can be found in wetlands and swamps throughout the southeastern. Aquatic milkweed is native to much of the southeastern united states. It survives in water and will grow in light sandy and medium loamy soils.

Native to stream sides it is generally most common in lightly shaded woodlands near streams.

This little milkweed is a great performer being shade tolerant and flowering spring through autumn. These new seeds are priced the same as 2018 but include 20 more seeds than last year. I would like to guess then cold moist stratification prior to water germination could increase the germination rates of the common milkweed seed. It is not rare or threatened but the seeds are difficult to come by since they are seldom collected from their host plants.
